Happy Ganpati

 So Ganpati is new to me – but Ganpati in Bombay is just a whole other thing! Leaves me with a lot of questions.

So here goes:

1)      Why does every locality want to compete as if they are aiming to enter the Limca Book of Records with their Ganpati?

2)      Why do other localities run contests like “Best Ganpati”, “Tallest Ganpati”, “Ganpati with the longest queue outside”?

3)      Why is there always a little kid sitting with the Ganapti when it is being transported on the open vans?

4)      Why are these open vans moving at 10kmph allowed on Bombay roads at 7p.m in the evening of a working day?

5)      Why do some Ganpati’s even resemble film stars?

Having said all of this, it’s at least nice to see kids really enjoying themselves over Ganpati – even the 40 year old ones J
